June 18, 2025. If you want to go all the way down into the Gorge, you must get a permit. Unfortunately, it was closed the day we went. We did the north and south rim trial. There are over 1000 steps, so be prepared. In the heat, this is a long, hard walk. It is definitely worth walking if you are in the area. We would love to come back and get down in the Gorge.

Nov 10, 2025 · Google ReviewVery nice experience. My husband, myself, 16 year old niece, and 6 year old daughter walked the north rim but didn't do the stairs or suspension bridge. The place was ridiculously crowded, so we felt rushed. They have a gift shop where they sell drinks and snacks. Picnic tables were limited at the museum-information area. We made sandwiches on our truck bed and ate in the sun. So that was disappointing. We planned to relax and eat. More tables are needed, in my opinion. The waterfalls are breathtaking and worth the walk. You can see the dam too from one overlook.
Oct 22, 2023 · Google ReviewMy family and I just went there and by luck, it was one of the weekends when they were releasing water from the dam. It was amazing, the difference of having been there Saturday late afternoon (when there hadn't been a release yet) and Sunday morning. I remember thinking, "the water sounds a LOT louder today" when first getting there Sunday 😄 It really was an amazing place! We loved the views and the north/south rim trails were not challenging but had great payout!
Apr 7, 2022 · Google ReviewAwesome place to hike but do be ready to go down and back up a lot of stairs!!! The views from all of the different lookouts is amazing. We did the loop and on the other side of the gorge you are able to see the lookouts we were on earlier and it was amazing at how high up we were. Will defiantly be back to walk on the gorge floor when they open it back up and it is warmer. They only give out 100 passes per day and the ranger we spoke with said that one the weekends passes “sell out” in a mater of minutes.
