The wife and I (and of course Squirt 🐾) took a weekend trip to the mountains of North Georgia. Great trip! One of the places we visited was this state park. Some history: Tallulah Gorge State Park features a massive 1,000-foot-deep, two-mile-long canyon carved by the Tallulah River in North Georgia. The area has served as a popular tourist attraction for over two centuries, famously drawing tightrope walker Karl Wallenda, who crossed the gorge in 1970. The rugged landscape also provided the striking backdrop for the 1972 thriller film Deliverance starring Burt Reynolds. Georgia Power dammed the river in 1913, shaping the modern water flow and lake systems around the gorge. There's lots to explore. There are 10 overlooks along the main trail that overlooks the gorge. There's a swinging bridge that crosses the gorge...but no pets allowed so, Squirt and I remained behind while the wife explored it. There's plenty of picnic tables, clean restrooms and even an indoor museum. It does cost to enter the park but probably worth it!

Beautiful place to visit. The gorge floor is a hard hike. Bring proper shoes. Don't go if rain is in the forecast. Watch for snakes. Pay close attention to the information class. It's important in case you lose the map. The trail out is at the top of bridal veil on the right. The hike is all left until that point. The way out is strenuous and straight up. The Rangers are awesome, they will help if you need them. They showed me the way out when I couldn't find it.

One of our favorite local places. We’re fortunate to be only 20 minutes away and visit several times a year. The overlooks are beautiful, the trails are well maintained, and it’s a great place to bring kids or dogs. Whether you’re looking for a short walk or a longer adventure, Tallulah Gorge is absolutely worth the visit.

Tallulah gorge State Park is incredibly beautiful with moderate trails and stunning falls. There is a small theater and a picture gallery to peak into histoery. You need to step down and up 780 steps on South rim. Some steps are loose, so be careful. There is one popular hanging bridge in between. Awesome views. Great experience.

Great quick hike! Was surprised by the $10 cash only parking so bring cash! We did all the main trail letters and the suspension bridge in about 2hrs. Lots of stairs (1100 they claim) so be sure you can handle that. Need a permit for some areas, which unfortunately was not available to request during our visit due to high water. If you’re already here, Toccoa falls about 20min away is worth seeing as well as it’s a 3min walk from your car to the fall.
