mike haefner3.1 mi out and back on the AT from Mooney Gap to Albert Mountain Fire Tower. Dog friendly. Many mushrooms and wildflowers when we went in mid July. Beautiful trail with many steep sections, particularly a big stair climb at the end near the fire tower. 360 degree views from up in the fire tower. If you don’t want to make this climb, you can drive Ball Creek Rd to a circular turnaround that has a half mile or so trail to the fire tower. Gravel road to this location coming from the west is in very good condition. I saw a BMW convertible drive up as we were walking down the trail.

De YorkWonder views. Bring s hiking pole for some rutted and rocky area. But well worth it.
