Short hike to great views! Lots of lookout points to views at top. Gravel road in coming from west was slow but well maintained and easily handled by my Honda civic.

Super nice out and back trail (total 1.4 miles). 2-3 side trails for added viewpoints. We were too late in the season for rhododendron blooms but the views were worth it. Limited parking but it is not a heavily visited area. Gravel road to get there was in good condition. Combine this hike with a visit to the Albert Mountain firetower.

I love this area of the Nantahala National Forest. Pickens Nose has great views and the trail is short with little elevation. I suggest adding Albert Mountain Trail, Mooney Falls Trail, and Big Laurel Falls Trail. They can all be done the same day and they're not far from Pickens Nose. Small parking area. Get there early.

What a beautiful hike! The hike is less then one hour up and 30 minutes coming back. To get to the trailhead you will drive a gravel road and a sedan type of car will not ve the best idea. The views are incredible!

Such a lovely trail with several spots to see the mountains! Be prepared to drive on a long unpaved road to get to it! I felt that the trail was pretty easy and not long at all. Definitely go if you can!
