Great place to visit as you can do a longer hike from a lower portion of the trail which is moderately challenging or you can go to the parking that is a mile next to the fire tower which is a fairly easy hike with some incline! The views are gorgeous from above and well worth visiting if you’re in the area!

SPECTACULAR panoramic views of the most beautiful part of the country. Came here on a backpacking trip after a very rainy day to find the top unlocked! It was cool and dry up there so set up camp and enjoyed the most amazing night of backpacking in my life. Highly recommend stopping here. I will be back.

Easy 1 mile hike round-trip. The views at the top of the tower are paralleled by nothing else in the area. It takes roughly 10 miles of driving on gravel but the road is well maintained. I highly recommend this hike if you are in the area. You can see the smokies, GA, Whiteside mountain, the Franklin area, and all the surrounding mountains for miles.

Very cool fire tower with beautiful panoramic views. Trail from the road is about 1/5 mile away from where google maps sends you, and is directly across from a sign for Bear Pen trail. The only downside is that as of 11/30/24, the upper part of the tower is locked and there is no way to get into it.
