The trailhead itself is pretty basic. The hiking trail and destination are great. The trail starts off a bit rocky and a little steep, but the 2nd half to the views was easy. It's less than a mile each way and the views on a clear day are spectacular. Also, just west this spot is full of other hikes and waterfalls. The dirt road to the trailhead is mostly easy, but there are a few sharp, tight turns that get chewed up from tires spinning while climbing. Four-wheel drive will have no problems. Two wheel drive is doable but will be a little more challenging.
May 13, 2024 · Google ReviewPickens nose is a wonder clifftop view of the southern Appalachian wilderness. The hike itself is pretty easy but the drive on gravel will take a while. I recommend the northern approach for easier roads. We made it out in a low clearance vehicle so it's doable for anyone. We caught it on a misty cloudy day but the views were still magical.
Jun 26, 2022 · Google ReviewNice easy walk with a great view at the end. There are 2 or 3 lookouts on the way to pickens nose. I also liked the drive from Otto up there and then driving through past Standing Indian.
Jan 1, 2025 · Google ReviewTrail is moderate with a 220 ft incline in the first half mile. It felt like we were going straight up but once you hit the .5 mile mark it gradually goes up the remaining 140 ft to top out at 360 ft incline from the trailhead. Well worth the hike and one will will do again.
Jul 15, 2022 · Google ReviewThis was not for the beginner hiker at all. Some of the spots were real up hill . The lookout was awesome but the walk was kinda rough.
