The vandiver was an excellent restaurant in the town of Clayton! The food was fantastic and the service was quick! I would advise setting up a reservation if you can as there is limited seating. This makes for a much more intimate dining session! The flavors were excellent and the cuts were cooked to perfection! If we ever visit north Georgia again we will be sure to stop by!

Go to The Vandiver! Some of the other “nice” places in Clayton are over-priced and not worth it. The Vandiver was EXCELLENT. We shared the truffle fries to start (yum!) and had the crab cake entree and trout entree. Everything was delicious. And bonus points for labeling what was gluten free (plenty of options too). Our server was super friendly and polite. This restaurant exceeded our expectations. Definitely worth the splurge, much more than the other upscale restaurants in the area. The vibes were nice too. Enjoy!

This places makes you feel like you're staying @ a ski lodge and you've just come down for a meal. The decor is lovely and "fancy feeling". The staff is very attentive and pleasant! The brunch is delicious! We all has the Breakfast Sammy (1/fries & 2/potatoes). The spirit-free Yule Mule was absolutely delicious! My friend ordered the Snowed In which includes bourbon cream from a nearby distillery, they said it was very tasty! I would recommended giving this restaurant a try when in the area. The attached hotel (Birch Creek Inn ?) looked adorable and showcased amazing artwork from local artists throughout the lobby and hallways.

Okay food, awful service. Came for brunch Sunday 7/12/26. Woman with dark curly hair and glasses was our waitress and while she was well-intentioned I recommend further training. She asked while we were halfway through the beignets (we had eaten 3/5 beignets) if she could clear the beignets plate and reached for it— though we had half the portion left! We said no and finished our beignets that we had ordered and paid for. I asked what sides the sandwiches came with. She told me “it’s what’s on the menu.” There were no sides listed on the menu nor with any of the sandwiches. She said “oh that one comes with hashbrowns.” When I got my food, it came with fries. No big gripes here, but not great to get snippy at people for asking a question that your menu doesn’t address and THEN telling them the wrong information! My friend ordered a mimosa at the beginning of the meal when we got our beignets. 20 min later, no mimosa. She checks in with the waitress, who says “well my ten-top just came in so it might be a while.” ?? We were there 30 min before the ten-top, which also had six kids, so we were confused as to why the bar would be backed up by it. The one (1) mimosa came 40 minutes after ordering, by which time we had already finished our food. Basic waitressing skills: don’t tell your customers that it’ll be a while because a ten-top came in **after you** and you ordered a mimosa 20 min before they got here. Don’t ask to clear a clearly “still-working-on-it” plate, and definitely don’t reach for it. Learn your menu so you can answer correctly.
