Cool hike with beautiful view
Aug 8, 2026 · Google ReviewThis is a moderate hike on a beautiful trail with a beautiful view at the top. The trail is mostly shaded on the way up, but is open on the top with stairs to access the top of the fire tower so you can enjoy the platform but it is not shaded up there. Bug spray and bug repellent highly recommended in the spring summer fall months. No restrooms at the trailhead, parking spaces are pull offs at the end of the road. Be mindful that there is at least one tenant here who is very unkind towards hikers and visitors if you go anywhere but the trail itself. In other words, if you need to answer the call of nature, I would go up the trail a ways and find a spot off trail to do that. Don't do it anywhere along the road before the trail. That resident might my approach you and threaten to report you for trespassing like he did me. He even was so bold when he went back up to his house to shoot a gun to continue the intimidation. My fiance and I prayed for him and went and enjoyed our hike anyway. We didn't have any issues with him after the initial encounter or after we left.
Jun 13, 2026 · Google ReviewModerately hard trail but beautiful hike with a lot of vegetation changes. The view at the top is impressive with a 360 degree observation deck. One hiker we ran into along the way tracked the distance to be 1.73 miles on his watch. A review on here said it was 1.6 miles one way - definitely felt longer than that. We did it with young kids, but we’re fairly experienced hikers.

Apr 26, 2026 · Google ReviewIf I'm not mistaken it took us a little over an hour to go up and 40 minutes down. Pretty easy for the most part.
Apr 20, 2026 · Google ReviewGreat trail-easy to follow. Doable with kids. Wear hiking boots. Limited parking at trailhead; max about 10 cars. Great views at the top.
Dec 31, 2025 · Google ReviewParking is just pulling off the road. No facilities. Trail is easy. Long steady incline to the top of Rabun Bald. A few spots that can be muddy from springs. Is within trees the entire time until you reach the tower. Tower is a converted fire lookout tower to an observation deck.
Dec 27, 2025 · Google ReviewSomewhat challenging trail. A little over 1.5 miles but elevation rise of over 1000 feet makes it a climb. The view from the top is priceless. It can be very cold in the dead of winter but I still consider this a four season hike. Just be prepared.
Dec 9, 2025 · Google ReviewIt was the best experience ever!! I have never seen the mountains up top like that before and it was so rewarding to get up there!
