Parking is just pulling off the road. No facilities. Trail is easy. Long steady incline to the top of Rabun Bald. A few spots that can be muddy from springs. Is within trees the entire time until you reach the tower. Tower is a converted fire lookout tower to an observation deck.
Dec 27, 2025 · Google ReviewWhen we went, it was too wet to walk with my son. there is definitely a great drive and a beautiful view the whole time. The road was kind of iffy due to the majority of the way being one way. But apparently we took a back way. I just followed the maps. It was definitely an experience and I would have definitely done it again. We went at the end of December. The views are so serene, but I'll never understand how people live in houses hanging off the mountain. Everyone we ran into was very nice.
May 18, 2024 · Google ReviewOk little place got nice 360° view is probably biggest attribute. The hike was deceiving from what I read was under different impression then what it actually was. So I mapped my hike for others to base off of. Most of hike is a medium-hard level for the first third. The middle is medium level but returns back to steeper medium-hard level terrain. Was just little too late for sun set bud did get a couple pictures. To the Bald is 1.6 miles one way and a climb of 1000ft of elevation (see picture) but still pretty.
Mar 25, 2024 · Google ReviewGreat trail-easy to follow. Doable with kids. Wear hiking boots. Limited parking at trailhead; max about 10 cars. Great views at the top.
Dec 30, 2025 · Google ReviewHiked this trail this past weekend! The trail was very well maintained and easy to follow. Once you turn onto Kelsy Mountain Road, go to the end of it. You can park your car on the sides of the road as seen in my pictures. Once you get out of your car, go to the end of the road and the trail begins there. Beegum Gap trail is marked with green blazes. Follow this trail for a little over a mile and a half and you will reach the observation deck at the top of Rabun Bald. The trail is a little over 3 miles round trip which makes this hike easy and quick. You can also get on the Bartram Trail from this trail. About 0.7 miles in the trail will come up to a “split” which is where the Bartram Trail intersects. Stay to your right to go up to the observation deck!
