I love this shop for a lot of reasons, but the highlight of my visits to Clayton is Mr. Gandy, who works here in the yarn section. He offers knitting lessons and sessions at the store and taught me to knit! I've always struggled to learn from others but he made it so simple and I left with materials, beginner patterns, and a wealth of resources. After my two lessons, I'd buy a chocolate from up front and be on my merry way. This place is a delight.

Charles Gandy's knitting classes are extremely helpful. He is very knowledgeable and patient. The wool and cotton yarn selection at Isadora Popper is extensive. I'm in love with Remix, a soft blend from recycled fabric scraps, that is available in nice colors and three weights. The store is packed full of unique, interesting items and the staff is friendly and ready to assist.

What a find in downtown Clayton! The front of the shop has this perfectly curated mix of home goods, kitchen items, and beautiful paper and stationery. But the real surprise is the yarn section in the back – a great selection of beautiful natural fibers and both well-known and local options. The staff is genuinely helpful (I had questions about purchasing some of their unframed artwork). Whether you're looking for a unique gift, supplies for your next creative project, or just want to browse, this place delivers. This is exactly the kind of independent shop that makes Clayton special.

Although we live in Chicago, I’ve been visiting Isadora Popper since it opened whenever I’m in town, and it is such an inspiring, creative space. Each time I’m in they have added more to their selection! I love the culinary section with delicious preserves, cookbooks, cooking utensils and tableware; with the stationary, writing utensil and notebook section being another favorite spot. Amazingly curated, I find so many things to take home every time I’m there! I’ll be back again and again. Keep it up, IP!

Isadora Popper is two essentially two gorgeous shops in one. In the front is a wonderful selection of home goods, paper goods, decor, etc. Their offerings are beautifully curated and well-displayed (no clutter and easy to browse). I was especially delighted to see some of my favorite paper brands, Kokuyo and Travelers Notebooks -- it's rare to find them in stores! The back half of this shop is (if this is possible) even better: a beautifully stocked yarn shop! As a yarn shop worker myself and a "yarn tourist," I can confidently say that Isadora Popper's selection and set-up is among the best I've seen anywhere in the world. They carry primarily natural fibers, including well-known standards, hand-dyed and local yarns, and custom store-exclusive yarns. Their accessories and bag selections were excellent, and I will definitely be ordering one of their leather project bags! Service was exactly what it should be at a LYS: knowledgeable, warm, and kind. There was a friendly group of knitters/crocheters sitting around the table in the back: everyone was welcoming and the shop is clearly loved by its regulars. I wish I lived nearby so I could come often! I was frankly blown away by the quality and selection of this shop. Their online offerings are excellent, too, and I will be ordering from them when I can't come by the store in person. 11/10!
