We spent a wonderful two + hours here doing the tour and tasting. It was a great experience. Doug, owner/operator & Master Distiller, led the tour. Doug is a super personable guy with a ton of knowledge about making whiskey. He explains the science behind his craft and makes the tour fun and interesting. We've toured many distilleries and Doug and Moonrise Distillery are by far our #1! The tasting at the end was great, too. Doug teaches you how to drink bourbon. I found out I've been doing it wrong for avery long time. But I'll do it wrong no longer. Go see Doug. Take the tour. Taste his craft. You won't be disappointed and you will learn something.

Visited Moonrise Distillery in Clayton with a few colleagues, and it was a great stop. I don’t drink, but they do—and they really enjoyed the tasting special (five samples for $20). It gave them a chance to try several of the distillery’s bourbons and mixes, and they ended up buying a few bottles to take home. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming; he even offered me a soda while the others did their tasting. The atmosphere was relaxed and genuine, with the kind of hospitality that makes you want to linger and chat. I may not drink, but if bourbon or craft spirits are your thing, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Wow! This is a ‘must see’ if you are in the area. We stopped in because we passed it on the way to our BnB but had missed the tour, so we did a tasting flight and signed up for the tour the next day. Doug, the master distiller, gave a fantastic, in depth, science based tour that we both thoroughly enjoyed. We do wineries all of the time, and sometimes breweries, and had recently toured several distilleries in Scotland. I can honestly say I learned as much today as I learned at the others combined. And their products are so good. I rarely drink anything but wine, however the Moonrise vodka is so smooth and flavorful, that I would call it ‘sipping’ vodka. I also had never met a Bloody Mary that I wanted to drink until today. Based on the prior day’s tasting, I had already planned on purchasing two bottles, but ended up buying six (including one of the Bloody Mary). Am pleased to know that we live in a state to which they can direct ship! PS- the ice cream is also delicious!

Awesome spot! We really enjoyed stopping in and all of the products we tried, we enjoyed. The staff was super friendly, tastings were 20$ for 5 different beverages to sample. Favorites were the ready to drink margarita and Bloody Mary. Favorite liquor was the vodka and 5 year bourbon. Definitely would recommend everybody give them a shot if you are in the area!

LOVE this spot! If you are in the Clayton area, this is a must-visit! The establishment is tucked up on a hill and is very lovely inside and out. They make all of their liquor on site and you can even take a private tour of the facility. There are two bars and a gift shop where you can taste before you buy. My personal favorite is the Snow Cream. It's like Bailey's Irish Cream (but 10 times better!). They have a wide range of fantastic cocktails and be sure to check out their new martini menu. Every Friday night they host Music Bingo with a DJ and it's a blast! I've been several times and have never been disappointed. The energy and vibe is fantastic and everyone has a great time. Just a tip: There are just a few food items available to purchase, so you may want to eat in advance or bring something with you to snack on. The owner keeps his two adorable dogs behind the bar and they have a ton of fun back there and occasionally interact with the guests. And don't forget to say hi to my favorite bartender in town, Teddy! She's the best and so is this spot!
