I have visited the fish hatchery many times over the years as my children were growing up and now enjoying visits with the grandchildren. It is a wonderful family activity.

The fish hatchery was pretty cool but the road in and out is full of pot holes and rough as can be. We had to go super slow to keep from busting a tire. Don't even bother if you have a low profile car! TIP: Use the restroom inside the hatchery. It's a clean restroom with running water.

Beautiful day for a hike! 18 people showed up to hike the East Fork Trail. Long hike (2.69 miles in), lunch and return. There is some lingering damage from Helene, and spots of the trail were wet, but nothing daunting.

Fun place to visit and see how fish farming works. Lots of Brown, Rainbow and Brook trout growing in the big pens. The nursery pens were full of youngsters. Nuce short or long walk from the parking lot to picnic area and river

If you enjoy the outdoors, I highly recommend you take the time to stop by the Fish Hatchery. The Fish Hatchery itself is pretty cool. You can see the different stages of trout grown in the various tanks. From small fingerlings to very large trout that provide the eggs for the next generation of trout. The hatchery is cool, but this is only an appetizer to outdoor experience that hatchery grounds offer. There are a number of well maintained hiking trails, where you can see the beautiful hemlock trees that scatter the area. There are plenty of picnic tables, a large gathering shelter, and restrooms. My favorite part of the hatchery is the stream. The water is always nice and cool there are plenty of trout in the stream for those who like to fish (like me). The stream also has quite a few deeper spots that allow the kids (or you) to cool off and play in the water.
