We stopped in for an afternoon treat on a Tuesday. Abbey was prompt and pleasant. We ordered a Cucumber Cooler, a Max’s Old Fashioned and an order of Italian Doughnuts. The drinks tasted great. I was shocked when the doughnuts arrived. I was expecting six things the size of doughnut holes, but these were huge. And they came with caramel and chocolate for dipping. Needless to say, they were delicious. Considering how good our food and service were, we’d like to stop back for lunch or dinner. The only problem is noise in the dining room. If you want a nice dinner, I suggest you sit outside.

This lakeside pizza spot has quickly become one of our favorite places to eat. The pizza is always packed with flavor, the crust is perfect every time, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for how good everything is. The desserts are unforgettable — the tiramisu is rich and creamy, and the donuts are absolutely amazing. We order them almost every visit because they’re that good. The service is another reason we keep coming back. The waitresses are genuinely kind and attentive. One time we were sitting outside and mentioned being a little cold — they actually brought us a blanket without us even asking. That level of care is rare and so appreciated. My husband and I both love this place, and we return often. Great food, great people, and a truly welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

My wife and I visited here from out of town not expecting much but we were blown away. The service was attentive and polite. The food was hot, quick, plentiful and very tasty. We went for lunch and it wasn't too crowded. The spinach artichoke dip was the bomb. They gave us 8 Italian donuts and they were so huge we took 4 home! Plus they were only $9. The food overall was priced very fairly.

Made a second visit yesterday 8/24! Just as excellent as our last visit! ——— My boyfriend and I were exploring Tallulah Gorge for the day and when we were finished we were starving. I told him I’d search Google maps for restaurants nearby when i stumbled upon Max’s Lakeside as the 2nd restaurant that popped up in the list and I’m SO glad I did!! The place is absolutely a hidden gem up a twisty turny road by Lake Rabun. When you pull into the parking lot behind the restaurant, you’ll discover the cutest outdoor bar I’ve ever seen with seats that are made of swings! We thought about sitting at the bar to eat, but I decided I really wanted a bit of air-conditioning after a very warm day hiking around so we went inside the dining room. I’m so glad we did it because we met the brand new server, Amber who was absolutely awesome! Super personable, sweet, and definitely on the ball with everything, including a constant flow of refills on drinks for my guy without ever having to ask. We chose the Burrata appetizer and it was SO good! The pesto sauce on the plate was seriously delicious. I scooped up every last bit. The bread sticks were delicious as well. I wish I took a pic to share. For dinner I got the shrimp scampi and my love got the meatball sub with a side salad. Both were delicious. We debated getting a pizza because they looked excellent and they had a great variety. For desert we got the Italian donuts which were puffed pizza dough with a cinnamon sugar that came with caramel and chocolate to dip and they were nice and hot and so delicious. It came with at least 8 on the plate so plenty to take home. When we’re back up exploring in the area I know we’ll be back. We’ve definitely added Max’s to our favorites. Definitely check it out!!
