The road to get to the trailhead is ROUGH! And you know you’re there when you’re at the intersection of Hale and Overflow Creek which are dirt service roads. Parking is just off road (no lot) and there is not much room for many cars. It’s a quick and easy 1/2 mile to Holcomb where you’ll cross a bridge to get access to climb up the falls a bit. There is a fantastic area beyond the big boulders to relax and read. I tried to continue to see Ammon Falls as well but the trail was completely blocked by fallen trees. Getting back to the car was just retracing my steps but in that direction it is almost entirely uphill! I was there 3 hrs and did not see a single person until crossing paths with some thru hikers on my way out! I’ll definitely be back!!
Apr 22, 2025 · Google ReviewA beautiful view with a relatively easy walk to get there. It can be wet so prepare for that ahead of time. I spotted dozens of butterflies along the way during the summer months! Flowers are abundant on this trail. It's quite magical! The entrance to the waterfall is a steep step down so I'd recommend not going alone if you have concerns.
Aug 30, 2023 · Google ReviewI went here during the week and had the place to myself. We parked at 34.982145, -83.273821 so we could see the upper falls also. Limited parking.
Aug 18, 2025 · Google ReviewThis is a remote, moderately intense hike that's got lots of variety and lots of WATERFALL. No facilities. When we visited the viewing platform for the main waterfall was literally a shambles from being destroyed by weather, but it was under construction to be rebuilt (July 2022) Access roads from North and South are fine.
Jul 20, 2022 · Google ReviewWe went in September and the Yellow Jackets were territorial but that’s to be expected. As of September 2023, the second bridge is impassible for many. It’s broken and very rickety. Hopefully the Forest Service will repair it soon. The hike is short but steep. A good workout indeed. The area is deep in the forest and incredibly beautiful. You’re probably going to need a truck or SUV with 4-wheel Drive to make it to the trail head, especially when the roads are washed out in rain or snow.
