Foxfire Heritage Days 2026 - June 5-6

Fourteen blacksmiths at the forge. Black powder rifle history. Pottery on the wheel. Butter in the churn. Woodstove cooking, canning, weaving, flint knapping, basketry, small engines, music, children’s activities, and barbecue from @Blue Hound Barbecue.
For two days, demonstrators will share the skills, stories, and hands-on Appalachian traditions that have shaped life for generations. Families can also visit the Children’s Village, where kids can make something, try activities, ask questions, with plenty of space to run around.

Her book is a beautiful guide to the native plants of our region, filled with color photographs, plant descriptions, traditional uses, harvesting guidance, and thoughtful information for anyone interested in the Southern Appalachians, plant traditions, and the living world around us.
